Food For the Poor
This woman was one of many cooks that prepared the meal that day.
While we were in Haiti we were given the opportunity to help serve at Food for the Poor. This is an organization that serves food to thousands of people every single day. It was such a eye opening experience to help serve the men, women and children that come through those gates. It is a long process that they go through each day to get the food they need of their families, but for some that is their only hope. They are served rice and some form of protein that changes each day. It is quite amazing to see how much rice they cook and the labor the volunteers do to serve this community.
Each bag of rice probably makes about 5 or 6 of these bowls of rice. They serve 30 bags of rice each and every day!
